Chapters

The individual chapters of your book will first be submitted as separate essays that should be able to be read as discrete (meaning complete) entities. What does this mean?

• Do not assume your reader 'remembers' what you discussed "last time"
• Make sure that the evidence you provide for each chapter/essay is complete for a work that will stand alone
• The Works Cited needs to reflects this submission only
• The first submission/ essay needs to follow strict academic formatting guidelines.

When you develop your book, you will work on chapter transitions and tightening up references.

While writing each chapter, you may want to begin to pen/ keep notes on possible transitions that you will develop or overlaps that will require editing for the book.

When we begin to work specifically on book development, you will want to consider (as stated above) how to address transitions, overlaps, and perhaps the more creative aspects: color, fonts, design, and other visual choices that affect the reading process.
