Introduction to Reading Texts

For consideration
(You do not have to reply to all of these, or any, but they may help frame ways for you to approach this reading as well as to guide you to understanding some of the things I've been thinking about when reading and assigning this text):

1. What is a text?
2. What are your reading strategies?
3. Might this reading affect your reading strategies? How?
4. Review the Writing Suggestions on page 16 and respond.
5. Review the Writing Suggestions on page 27 and respond.
6. Beyond the content of the text, how do the graphic elements / visuals/ layout choices complement or otherwise affect your reading of the text? Do images such as that on page 17 clarify or confuse? What do you think of the font(s) chosen? What about the wingding (the calligraphic -type graphic) at the beginning of the chapter?
